BIOE498 Warm-up assignment Headset Travel Case - Interview 28 Aug 2008 Client: M. Haney What aspects of the current bag am I satisfied with? - It lies flat. Where is it carried? - In my backpack. Typically in the same compartment each time, so I can find it. But there is nothing special about that compartment. Size? - the useful part of the current bag is 18 cm by 13 cm. I fold over the excess. Zipper? Velcro? - I do want some form of closure. Velcro I like; zippers seem "bulky", inflexible. But I want some form of closure. Time budget? - up to 2 hours, cutting and sewing Thickness? - with the headset, 1 cm Materials? - current bag is nylon. That's nice. Other fabrics could work. I can not sew leather. Silk snags. Budget? $10 Durable? - should last at least 2 years. More is fine; it need not biodegrade on me. Protection, padding? - not needed. The body of the bag can be a simple fabric shell Color constraints? - none, but I would prefer not to be beat up for looking like a sissy. Time to load the headset into the bag? - 15 seconds, time budget Water resistant? - not needed. Not opposed, but not needed. Is something needed to constrain the coiled cord? - no. As long as the bag is not too large, no additional features are needed inside. Source of materials? - any local fabric store. Shape contraints? - must tolerate the oval shape of the headset, but does not need to be oval (form-fitting) Internal/external accessory pockets? - not needed. Decal, monogram? - cool! but not needed. Can I sew elastic? - I can, but I don't like to. Can I sew curves, around corners, etc.? - Yes. I am not limited to straight lines. Do I have a scissors, ruler, other tools? - Yes, I have typical sewing tools. I require only construction materials. Will I actually build this? - Yes, I will build something. I want my bottle bag for my bottle.
