Bioengineering Graduate Studies
Degree programs
The Bioengineering department offers M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Bioengineering. The department also participates in the Medical Scholars Program, which allows students to earn an M.D. degree and a Ph.D. in Bioengineering.
The mission of the Bioengineering Graduate Program is to provide students with educational and research experiences that integrate the sciences of biology and medicine with the practices and principles of engineering. The goal is to achieve a more detailed understanding of biological phenomena and to develop new techniques and devices. The program prepares graduates for highly productive and distinguished careers in research, academe, or business.
Graduate programs in Engineering at the University of Illinois are ranked fifth in the United States for 2006/7 by U.S. News and World Report.
